Montana Concealed Handgun Permit Requirements

Non-resident Permit Requirements

Montana issues concealed carry permits to residents only. Nonresidents are not eligible to apply for a concealed carry permit in the state of Montana.

Resident Permit Requirements

You must have been a Montana resident for at least six months
You must be a U.S. citizen
You must be at least 18 years old
You must complete a concealed carry or firearms safety course

Issuing Authority

Montana Concealed Weapons Permits are issued by the Montana Department of Justice. For a formal concealed permit application, contact your local sheriff’s office.
