Knowing Where You Can Carry Legally

In Montana, you may legally carry a handgun without a concealed carry permit:

• In a motor vehicle—outside the city limits of most Montana cities
• Outside the official boundaries of a city or town
• Outside the confines of a logging, lumbering, mining, or railroad camp
• While you are lawfully engaged in hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, hiking, backpacking, farming, ranching, or other activity in which weapons are often carried for recreation or protection
• In any other location where concealed handguns are not prohibited by law
