Pepper spray

Many people carry pepper spray as a self-defense tool because it is quick, easy to use, and extremely effective.

  • The spray not only causes severe irritation of the eyes and skin but also affects the respiratory system.
  • The spray will not stop attackers—it will only slow them down. Therefore, it is simply a diversionary self-defense tool that can give you some time to get away.
  • You should understand what the effects could be on your attacker and on yourself if you become contaminated with the spray.
  • You should consider buying an extra one to use for practice. Trying to break the seal and point the sprayer at your assailant for the first time while you are under pressure could have a number of different outcomes.
