License to Carry Expiration Date
The expiration date for your LTC depends on whether you are a U.S. citizen.
- Here is the information for an original LTC.
- If you are a U.S. citizen, the LTC expires on your first birthday that occurs four years after the date the license is issued to you. For example, if your birthday is on February 19 and your LTC is issued on August 16, 2018, your license will expire on February 19, 2023.
- If you are not a U.S. citizen, the LTC expires:
- On the earlier of your first birthday that occurs four years after the date of issuance OR on the expiration of your lawful presence in the United States as determined by the U.S. agency responsible for citizenship and immigration in compliance with federal law or...
- One year after the date the LTC is issued to you if there is no definite expiration date for your lawful presence in the U.S.
- Here is the information for a renewed LTC.
- If you are a U.S. citizen, the renewed LTC expires five years after the expiration date of the previous license.
- If you are not a U.S. citizen, the renewed LTC expires:
- On the earlier of five years after the expiration date of the previous license OR on the expiration of your lawful presence in the United States as determined by the U.S. agency responsible for citizenship and immigration in compliance with federal law or...
- One year after the date the LTC is renewed if there is no definite expiration date for your lawful presence in the U.S.
- If you must get a duplicate license, the expiration date is the same as it was on the LTC that was replaced.
