Defense of a Third Person

Under TCA §39-11-612, you are justified in threatening or using force to protect a third person if you reasonably believe:

  • You would be justified under §39-11-611 in defending yourself against the use or attempted use of unlawful force that is reasonably believed to be threatening to the third person and…
  • Your intervention is immediately necessary to protect the third person.
